I was but wondering what I can await to pay for a standard wood duck mount. I accept never had a bird mounted before and therefore do non have whatever existent idea of what to expect forward to spending. I have chosen several local taxidermists and have been given quotes any where from $175.00 to 450.00 and this is for a standard standing wood duck mount on a piece of wood. Any info would be helpful, cheers in advance.

Its going to vary alot....heard people paying depression 100'due south to loftier 200'south. I would look effectually paying depression 200'southward...thats what I paid for my mounts.

Yous get what y'all pay for in bird piece of work. I believe 450 is a little loftier but 85 is Non going to get you lot a respectable chore 99% of the time. Yous need to learn what your duck looks like in the pose you choose and expect the taxidermists work to mirror that. Find pictures of alive birds to use for your reference to teach yourself what to await !!

I know Pat Rummans starts at $500 a bird and that doesn't include whatsoever base piece of work - and he gets plenty of business concern - personally, I think its worth every penny - he's the best of the best - a master of masters. You can see his stuff at www.birdtaxidermy.com or type birdtaxidermy into your search engine. remarkable talent - haven't seen anyone else come even shut...then again, taxidermy is l% experience and talent and 50% opinion. ;o) but its VERY true, y'all get what you lot pay for.

That mount, the i above, is ridiculous looking. When do you see a duck looking like that? That is nearly as un-natural looking as they come and that guy needs to be prosecuted for charging that much. He has great base work but I have seen very few men that tin pre-fect flight bird mounts.

I would put my taxidermist up confronting whatsoever bird mounted in the globe...

once again - it really boils downward to stance - I've raised waterfowl for over 20 years and encounter them live all 24-hour interval long - flying, diving, landing, playing mating, displaying - and that is the number i reason I like Pat's piece of work - its the most realistic. The pictures you posted were nice - but non globe class work. HOWEVER, the simply thing that Actually matters is that YOU like them - perception is our reality - and if yours is that your birds are the all-time in the universe, then concider yourself lucky and bask the cute mounts that yous have and don't worry about what anyone else has to say - thats why I don't compete - its light-headed - take one bird to 1 prove get first place - take it to another country with a unlike approximate, and based souly on his opinion, you lot get concluding place - what really matters is if the client and taxidermist are happy with it -

every bit for cost - get what you can and what yous recall is off-white - don't worry what others may say ;o)

Thanks for sharing your photograph's - I always bask seeing other mounts.

Mr. Rummans gets that because he can. This human being has built birds out of chicken feathers for pete sake! That really requires knowledge of anatomy. He is ane of the all-time and will merely be rivaled by a few taxidermists out at that place....Savides, Newmyer, etc. Not many cracking bird taxidermists out there. Work smarter non harder! Lets await at this.....If he does 20 duck mounts at 500....that makes him gross 10k (I guarantee he does a lot more than 20). The guy charging $85 bucks would have to accept in 118 ducks to friction match his xx. Without fourth dimension y'all can figure nearly $thirty in materials....that makes Rummans netting around 9,400.00 and the other guy makes $6460 for 6 times the work....Mr. Rummans is non a crook, simply an intellegent business homo. If your good than the business organization will find you lot and with him it has. I can tell you lot ane thing.....I wouldn't desire to compete against him :cry
